Who needs a tool consultant?
Anyone who is faced with having to sell a tool collection regardless of it’s size should have a working knowledge of old tools, current values, pricing trends, and what type of advertising would be most effective in getting interested buyers to the sale. GPTC will do everything from a verbal appraisal and general advise, to creating detailed inventories and readying collections for sale by photographing and describing each lot.
80% of a tool collection’s value can be concentrated in just a handful of tools. Beware of the fast talking dealer or collector who will come in and buy just a few items. A collection is much harder to market once someone has been allowed to “cherry pick” it.
Where should an auction be held?
Anywhere there are good tools for sale is a good place! We hold regular auction in St. Charles, just outside of St. Louis, Missouri. We have also held a regular auction in Iowa and have held auctions in Nebraska, New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and other places.
We also offer online absentee bidding and can ship to bidders who can’t come in person.
